hmmm, came close to this once when starting my bike up for the first time in the spring a few years back.
Apparently over the winter my fuel tank had developed a leak, also a small hairline crack had formed in my header. Well, with my bike on it's side stand that leak was falling right onto the cracked header. Glad I caught it before trying to start the bike, else I may have had a similar experience to these gentlemen.

If he'd had protective gear on he couldn've stayed on long enough to put the kickstand down. That way gas wouldn't have started leaking out of his gas tank, too. ATGATT

How about actually attempting to get to the fire extinguisher that is at always at fuel pumps instead of running away like my girlfriend running from a spider...

People panic in situations like this and do not use all of their brain. They sense danger and get as far away as possible.

Because some people would rather not risk exploding.

Was that the same guy who started the fire and dropped the bike? Wow. Darwin is sending some pretty strong warnings there.
